The snow found on the ground uses a custom height blend Shader with tessellation, designed to simulate snow piling on top of itself, allowing for fine control over it's height variation and also having a wetness layer.
Finally decided to commit to a full fledged UE5 scene after having used the engine many times for smaller projects previously.
I decided to also try and get into Houdini, by simulating some of the snow on the map with it.
Renders for this scene have been made in Marmoset Toolbag 5 and Unreal Engine 5.
Materials were authored in Substance Designer.
Models have been created in Blender, Sculpted in Zbrush, baked in Marmoset then textured in Substance Painter.
Terrain was created in Gaea
Set dressing was done in Unreal Engine 5.
